The Todd Greene Agency welcomes Bill Williams, former co-anchor of Action 10 News and one of East Tennessee’s most highly respected broadcast journalists, who retired in December 2000 to its speaker client list.
Seen every weeknight for twenty-three years on WBIR-TV’s top rated newscasts, Bill was recognized for his superb handling of the daily news and for his compassion in dealing with human issues.
Though he has stepped away from the anchor desk, Bill continues his work with “Monday’s Child” and “Mission of Hope,” two community service programs he introduced to East Tennessee during his years on Action 10 News. An adoption program for special needs children, Bill began “Monday’s Child” in 1980. Today, more than 600 of the special children featured on the program have found permanent homes and loving families.
“Mission of Hope” is an Appalachian relief program that began in response to Bill's news stories depicting the plight of the people in the area. From an annual Christmas outreach effort, it has grown into a year round relief program dedicated to helping people trapped in the pockets of poverty found in the old coal mining communities of the Appalachian Mountains.
Bill has been honored for both his broadcast journalism and his community involvement. Of his many awards, his most cherished are the “Brotherhood, Sisterhood Award” from the National Conference on Community Justice; the “Angel Award” from Child Help South; and the Honorary Doctor of Divinity Degree conferred on him by Carson-Newman College.
Bill is a wonderful speaker who speaks to organizations and corporation throughout the country. Bill focuses his presentations on work ethic, community involvement, professional development and integrity. He has work with organizations such as East Tennessee Children's Hospital, UT Hospital, Carson-Newman College and many others. Bill brings a great style and is considered by most one of the best speakers in our area.
Semi-retirement affords Bill, and his wife Wanda, more time to enjoy grandchildren, more time for travel, more time to spend in the flower garden, and more time to go after the fish just waiting to be caught.
